As a Highways Engineer in our Transportation team, you'll work on projects ranging from large-scale infrastructure like the M25 to innovative initiatives like Human Drive, bringing digitalisation and transforming transportation. Collaborate with design teams across the country and the globe, and be part of the future of UK highways, including intelligent networks and autonomous technologies.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Highway Engineer to join our practice in Cambridge or Chelmsford (with up to 3 days remote work per week).

Your Responsibilities

1. Prepare designs and specifications following DMRB standards.
2. Develop designs using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
3. Manage work packages and lead schemes and multidisciplinary teams.
4. Support project planning, programming, and cost estimation.
5. Check, certify, and approve designs, documents, and reports.
6. Manage and mentor graduate engineers and technicians.
7. Engage with clients and stakeholders to deliver projects.
8. Contribute to feasibility studies, technical reports, and contract documents.
9. Collaborate across disciplines for integrated service delivery.
10. Seek innovative solutions for value engineering.
11. Provide technical leadership and support.

Qualifications and Experience

1. BEng or MEng in Civil Engineering or equivalent; ideally Chartered or Incorporated Engineer.
2. Significant highway design experience per DMRB and standards.
3. Understanding of project delivery and commercial aspects.
4. Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and procedures.
5. NEC or project management experience is advantageous.
