Job summary

Dennis Eagle UK is recruiting a Workshop Chargehand for our Aldridge Service Centre. You will lead a team, supervise day-to-day workshop operations and balance hands-on maintenance with coordinating workloads to keep vehicles on the road.

The role requires experience with HGVs, strong diagnostic skills, knowledge of DVSA standards and a City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent. An HGV licence is essential and the position offers a structured, safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Experience maintaining and repairing HGVs or similar commercial vehicles.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of DVSA regulations and workshop compliance requirements.
• City & Guilds Level 3 qualification.
• An HGV licence.
• Proactive approach to quality and safety.
• Ability to motivate others in a busy workshop.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintaining and repairing HGVs and refuse collection vehicles.
• Fault finding across mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• MOT preparation and chassis/body repairs.
• Support the organisation and day-to-day running of the workshop.
• Promote safe working practices and high housekeeping standards.
• Ensure work is completed to DVSA and company standards.
