Job summary

Green Flare, an award-winning renewable energy company based in Clevedon, is seeking two Heat Pump Installers to join our installation team. You'll work on air source heat pump systems, UFH and related heating work on mainly local projects, taking ownership of quality and safety in customers' homes and commercial sites.

We welcome experienced Heating Engineers and Plumbers looking to move into renewables; training and support are available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Strong domestic heating and plumbing experience.
• Experience installing heating systems, cylinders and pipework.
• Good understanding of pumps, valves and heating systems.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to learn and develop in renewables.

Responsibilities

• Install air source heat pump systems across local projects.
• Install cylinders, radiators, UFH, pumps, valves and pipework.
• Carry out heating upgrades and replacement works.
• Work from system designs, specifications and manufacturer instructions.
• Fill, flush and test systems for commissioning.

We're looking for two Heat Pump Installers to join our team. Already installing heat pumps? We'd love to hear from you. We're also interested in experienced Heating Engineers and Plumbers who want to make the move into renewable heating. If you have strong heating and plumbing fundamentals but limited heat pump experience, don't let that stop you applying. For the right candidate, we can provide the training and support needed to help you make the transition into heat pumps.

About the Role

You'll work as part of our installation team, delivering air source heat pump (ASHP), underfloor heating (UFH) and associated heating systems across predominantly local projects. You'll take ownership of the quality of your work, work safely and professionally in customers' properties, and work closely with the wider Green Flare team to deliver installations we're proud of.

Key Responsibilities

• Install air source heat pump systems (e.g: Stiebel Eltron & Mitsubishi)
• Install cylinders, radiators, UFH, pumps, valves, manifolds and pipework
• Carry out heating upgrades and replacement works
• Work from system designs, specifications and manufacturer instructions
• Fill, flush and test systems ready for commissioning
• Support commissioning and system optimisation
• Identify and resolve installation issues on site
• Complete job records, photographs and relevant installation paperwork

Team Working

• Work alongside other installers, electricians, apprentices and project managers
• Support and share knowledge with less experienced members of the team
• Communicate clearly about progress, materials and any issues on site
• Take pride in delivering work to a high standard
• Contribute to a positive, supportive and accountable team environment

Health & Safety Ownership

• Follow site-specific risk assessments and safe working procedures
• Use the correct PPE and equipment
• Identify and raise potential risks or concerns
• Keep your working environment clean, organised and safe
• Work respectfully and professionally in customers' homes and on commercial sites
• Support with new starter H&S onboarding - demo-shadow-observe = sign off

Coordination & Communication

• Liaise with Project Managers regarding progress and any issues
• Communicate material requirements and site readiness
• Flag design discrepancies or practical constraints early
• Keep accurate records of work completed
• Communicate professionally with customers and other trades
• Have excellent customer communication skills and provide handovers

About You

We're open to candidates at different stages of their renewable heating career. You may already be an experienced Heat Pump Installer, or you could be an experienced Heating Engineer or Plumber looking to transition into heat pumps. Ideally, you'll have:

• Strong domestic heating and plumbing experience
• Experience installing heating systems, cylinders and pipework
• Good understanding of pumps, valves, controls and heating systems
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating or equivalent experience
• Good practical fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Confidence working in occupied customer properties
• Full UK driving licence
• Good communication and customer service skills

Qualifications

Previous heat pump experience and qualifications are advantageous, but not essential for the right candidate with a strong heating background.
