Job summary

NHS Blood and Transplant is seeking a Senior Healthcare Technical Officer to act as the first point of contact for hospitals requesting emergency deliveries. You will ensure orders are entered and issued efficiently while performing technical tasks and assisting in training staff.

The role requires a Level 4 qualification or NHSBT Foundation Degree or equivalent, with experience in laboratory, manufacturing or related settings. Training and development opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising others
• Experience using computers and basic IT programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform a range of scientific and technical activities related to blood donations with the team.
• Support and train new and less experienced staff.
• Undertake precise repetitive manipulation of equipment and blood samples and carry out routine tasks.
• Handle blood bags and a range of equipment.
• Manually handle equipment daily up to 13 kg with training.

Education

Level 4 qualification e.g. BTEC or HNC in a relevant science subject, NHSBT Foundation Degree OR equivalent knowledge and experience of working in a laboratory, manufacturing or other environment requiring intermediate level theoretical knowledge acquired through formal training
