Senior Healthcare Assistant

Location: Leek, ST13

Type: Temporary, Long days, Waking nights

Rate: GBP 14.50 per hour

We offer a 24/7, 365 on-call service, ensuring peace of mind for our clients and staff.

As a Senior Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with their daily activities, ensuring comfort and wellbeing. You will also be responsible for supporting the Healthcare Assistants.

Our client’s home is based in Leek, and they are an established home providing high-quality care to all residents.

You will work in a team at the Leek home supporting both staff and residents in residential or nursing home settings.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Assisting residents with personal care, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  2. Supporting residents with mobility and transfer, using appropriate equipment.
  3. Providing companionship and emotional support.
  4. Listening to patients' concerns with empathy.
  5. Encouraging social interaction and engagement in activities.
  6. Assisting with meal preparation and feeding, ensuring dietary needs are met.
  7. Monitoring and recording fluid and food intake.
  8. Administering or assisting with medication as per training and care plans.
  9. Monitoring and recording vital signs and reporting concerns to senior staff.
  10. Maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
  11. Following infection control protocols.
  12. Promoting independence, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality.
  13. Providing kind, compassionate care respecting cultural and personal preferences.
  14. Following and updating care plans.
  15. Collaborating with health professionals and family members.
  16. Assisting with wound care and minor clinical procedures.
  17. Leading shifts to ensure high-quality care.
  18. Administering and recording medication.
Candidate requirements:
  1. Previous experience in healthcare within a home or domiciliary setting.
  2. NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care.
  3. Completion of the Care Certificate.
  4. Medication Administration Training.
  5. At least 12 months experience as a Healthcare Assistant.
  6. Compassionate, patient, and caring nature.
  7. Flexible and adaptable to changing environments.
  8. Dependable and committed to patient care.
  9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Ability to work independently and in a team.
  11. Willingness to undertake further training.
  12. Enhanced DBS check or willingness to obtain one.
  13. Right to work in the UK.
  14. UK Driver’s Licence is desirable.
