Job summary

Surelock Mcgill Limited is seeking a senior H&S Manager to lead and develop the Group Health & Safety strategy across multiple UK sites. This role requires balancing compliance with practical delivery and will suit a credible safety professional with a track record in manufacturing.

You will maintain ISO 45001/14001 systems, act as the competent person under HSWA:1974, and drive a positive safety culture while reporting to the QHSE team. An immediate start is available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Health & Safety management role ideally within a manufacturing environment.
• NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) is essential; chartered IOSH membership is preferred.
• Strong understanding of UK safety legislation and experience in maintaining ISO 45001/14001 systems.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing all levels of the business.
• Hands‑on, proactive, and resilient professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment.
• Flexible in approach and responsive to changing demands and situations.
• Strong leadership presence with the confidence to challenge at all levels.
• Strategic thinker with a hands‑on, pragmatic approach.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Group Health & Safety strategy and culture across all group sites.
• Maintain H&S systems, ensuring full compliance with current UK HSE legislation and ISO standards.
• Act as the Groups competent person for Health and Safety under HSWA:1974.
• Manage digitised H&S platform, RAMS, safety policies and site procedures.
• Develop and manage contractor control processes and permit-to-work systems for high‑risk activities.
• Conduct audits and multi-site inspections to ensure compliance and welfare standards.
• Perform risk assessments and develop effective control measures to prevent accidents.
• Lead incident investigations, near‑miss and root cause analysis to implement corrective measures.
• Drive a consistent safety culture and maintain accreditations with regulators and stakeholders.
