Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is seeking a Senior Health & Safety Manager to lead the H&S strategy on a major Ministry of Justice project in Bicester. You will guide the site’s safety culture, advise senior teams and ensure compliance with UK legislation.

With NEBOSH Diploma and CMIOSH status, you will manage a robust H&S system, drive audits, investigations and training, and mentor safety advisors across the project team.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6) or equivalent qualification.
• CMIOSH membership or working towards chartered status.
• Extensive senior H&S experience in construction or infrastructure.
• Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation and CDM regulations.
• Experience leading audits, investigations and assurance activities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of the Health & Safety Management System.
• Provide expert health and safety advice to project teams, senior management and subcontractors.
• Drive a positive behavioural safety culture and promote best practice across all work activities.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, client requirements and company standards.
• Undertake audits, inspections and assurance reviews across the project.
• Lead incident investigations, identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Analyse health and safety performance data, identifying trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and deliver health and safety communications, campaigns and training initiatives.
• Engage with client representatives, regulatory bodies and other key stakeholders.
• Mentor and support Health & Safety Advisors and wider project teams.
