Job summary

Principal People are recruiting a Senior Health and Safety Advisor to support major infrastructure projects across Scotland. You will lead a small team of advisors, provide visible health and safety leadership on live sites, and deputise for the health and safety manager when required.

You'll use safety performance data to identify trends, challenge operational teams and stakeholders, and help shape the wider Health and Safety strategy while maintaining a strong client relationship across the

Qualifications

• Proven Senior H&S Advisor experience.
• Essential line management experience to lead a team.
• Strong construction, infrastructure or utilities background.
• Ability to challenge senior stakeholders and influence change.
• Knowledge of construction risks incl. deep excavation, groundworks, drainage, underground services, lifting operations, plant, confined spaces, work at height.
• NB: NEBOSH or equivalent qualification required.

Senior Health and Safety Advisor - Scotland - Hybrid - up to £65,000 + Package - ID: 11844

Principal People are working with a leading infrastructure contractor to recruit a Senior Health and Safety Advisor supporting major infrastructure projects across Scotland. With multiple projects, this is an exciting role that works within a strong team of both Safety and Environmental professionals, providing a balance between strategic implementation to operational support to the advisors in the region. This role with provides the opportunity to make a real impact across a major infrastructure programme. You'll work closely with the health and safety manager, providing senior leadership across the framework and deputising when required

The Role

• Use health and safety performance data to identify trends and drive improvement
• Challenge operational teams and senior stakeholders where required
• Support the wider Health and Safety strategy and build strong client relationships
• Maintain a visible presence across the project portfolio

What We're Looking For

• Proven Senior H&S Advisor experience
• Essential: line management experience, with the ability to lead and develop a team
• Strong construction, infrastructure or utilities experience, ideally water, gas, energy, civils or large scale construction
• The confidence to challenge managers and senior stakeholders and influence change
• Strong practical knowledge of construction risks including deep excavation, groundworks, drainage, underground services, lifting operations, plant, confined spaces, work at height and heavy equipment installation
• The ability to operate strategically while remaining credible and comfortable on site
• NEBOSH or equivalent qualification
