Job summary

Bradford Council is seeking an experienced Health and Safety Officer to support the Occupational Safety Team. You will stay abreast of legislative changes, advise managers, and promote a positive safety culture while ensuring risk assessments are proactive and robust across council operations.

You will also liaise with unions, manage reporting of accidents (RIDDOR), and assist in identifying training needs and the implementation of safety standards throughout services and SLAs.

Qualifications

• Minimum NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (PO1 level) is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Stay updated on health and safety legislation and advise managers on changes.
• Act as Competent Person under statutory requirements and support Council provision.
• Collaborate with services to provide efficient health and safety service.
• Advise on safety policies and best practices, and help develop safe codes of practice.
