Job description

The Senior Health Economist is responsible for value creation and demonstration, effectively communicating the value of an allocated product portfolio to national payers and related stakeholders, thereby removing barriers to patient access, via a proactive in-house approach to Health Economics.

Tasks & responsibilities
  • Lead the development, review, and refinement of UK/Ireland National Market Access Plans for Boehringer Ingelheim products in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
  • Design and develop optimal HTA strategies and lead all aspects of the HTA process for allocated products in UK/Ireland to optimize conditions for pipeline assets and minimize value erosion within inline brands.
  • Demonstrate HE functional excellence by leading and adapting corporate HEOR materials to ensure they are fit-for-purpose for the UK/Ireland setting and compliant with ABPI Code of Practice. Manage large projects with third-party vendors and stakeholders.
  • Foster in-house development and training of other Boehringer Ingelheim Health Economists.
  • Participate actively in cross-functional Franchise teams, ensuring Market Access is integral to brand strategy and tactics.
  • Provide timely and accurate horizon scanning information on pipeline products and ensure Market Access input during early-stage product development and assessment.
  • Lead the integration of payer insights into the health economic approach, translating patient access strategies into robust health economic strategies and studies. Communicate actionable conclusions and payer value messages proactively.
Requirements
  • At least an MSc in Health Economics or equivalent discipline.
  • Good knowledge and practical experience of economic evaluation methods and the processes of HTA bodies including NICE and SMC.
  • Technical expertise in HE modelling and value communication, with experience in using various channels.
  • Ability to support Boehringer Ingelheim’s business objectives through these approaches.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills within cross-functional teams and at a strategic level.
  • Experience with ABPI and IPHA codes of practice is advantageous.
