Senior Health Care Assistant - Radiology
Band 2

Main area: Grade Band 2

Contract: Fixed term - 3 months (contract will end on 31.03.2025)

Hours: Part time - 32 hours per week (Participate in a shift pattern covering 7 days a week)

You will be a member of the Diagnostic Health Care Assistant team, providing support to patients accessing diagnostic services. You will work with Radiographers and Consultant Radiologists to provide care in a busy diagnostic department.

Your role will be on rotations between the X-ray department at Scunthorpe General Hospital and the Scunthorpe Community Diagnostic Centre.

A high standard of patient care skills are required along with an ability to be flexible and deal with challenging situations. A helpful and pleasant demeanor is essential.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to work alongside State Registered Practitioners and Medical Staff to promote good working practices and ensure good quality care is given to all patients accessing Diagnostics services.

The post holder will be responsible for maintaining the working environment within Radiology, giving direct clinical and clerical support to the Radiographers and Radiologists to enable the delivery of an efficient and effective service with a high standard of patient care. You will be required to work a shift rota which will cover the opening times of all the diagnostic departments, which involves participating in 7-day working covering daytime and nighttime shifts.

You will be required to take responsibility for some administrative duties as well as patient care, and as such, good communication skills along with a polite telephone manner, computer and database skills are required. You will work under direct and indirect supervision and will be required to follow instructions.

Education and Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 or working towards this or equivalent qualification.
Occupational Experience
  • Experience in dealing with patients in a care setting.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Previous experience within a hospital setting.
