Role Overview

This role provides visible Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) leadership and direction. It offers advice, guidance, and assurance to the senior leadership team and supports the delivery of business strategy and objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with senior leaders to deliver cost-effective and efficient performance.
  • Support the implementation of HSW policies, procedures, guidance notes, and standards.
  • Conduct audits and inspections and assist in resolving non-conformities from third-party audits.
  • Participate in developing new standards and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Analyze audit results, corrective actions, and KPIs to identify gaps for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure timely completion of incident investigations and sharing lessons learned.
  • Manage and lead a team of managers and professionals, ensuring the necessary structures, tools, and responsibilities are in place to deliver excellence.
  • Provide performance management, technical development, and coaching.
  • Work collaboratively towards the net zero carbon transition, actively managing associated emissions and reductions during project delivery.
Minimum Requirements
  • Experience and knowledge of HSW legislation and delivery relevant to the role.
  • Experience in improving management systems and certification processes.
  • Skills in assurance and audit strategies, risk management, and mitigation.
  • Ability to develop team members’ HSW competencies and present technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven leadership in managing health, safety, and wellbeing results.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and effective stakeholder relationship management.
  • Attention to detail, coaching skills, change management experience, and strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Client-facing experience, self-motivation, and the ability to motivate teams.
  • Experience in strategy delivery, influencing, negotiation, and challenging the status quo.
  • Professional qualification or equivalent, relevant management experience, and evidence of continuous professional development.
Preferred Skills
  • Influencing senior management.
  • Knowledge of the industry and policy development experience.
  • Membership in industry forums, change management skills, and ability to influence at a senior level.
  • Degree or equivalent work experience and Chartered membership in HSW or a recognized professional body.
