Job summary

Northampton General Hospital is recruiting a Senior Hand Therapist to join its Hand Therapy Service on a fixed-term maternity cover. You will lead a specialist caseload and work within Trauma & Orthopaedics and Plastic Surgery, delivering hand therapy assessments, splinting and rehab programs.

The role requires HCPC registration and a degree in OT or Physiotherapy, with NHS Band 6 equivalent responsibilities and a focus on high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Registered HCPC professional with a degree in OT or Physiotherapy.
• Experience managing Hand Therapy patients within relevant surgical pathways.
• Evidence of CPD and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

• Manage a specialist Hand Therapy caseload from assessment through discharge.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate treatment programmes for hand conditions.
• Design, fabricate, and fit static and dynamic splints.
• Deliver evidence-based rehabilitation and exercise programmes.
• Work with consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support patient education and self-management strategies.
• Supervise junior therapists and therapy staff.
• Participate in service development, governance and quality improvement.
• Contribute to professional development activities.
