Job Description:

This role presents an opportunity to join our Legal function and is reporting to the Group Legal Director. Here you'll join a high visibility and highly effective legal team as our business embarks on an exciting new phase. You'll be instrumental in ensuring we meet our legal and regulatory obligations in new markets and jurisdictions.

The role requires the ability to promptly identify regulatory/compliance, and risk/reputation issues and implement solutions, provide commercial as well as legal advice, develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within the business, and have the confidence to advise on issues that have significant business impact.

What you will be doing:

  • Scanning relevant gaming news portals and keeping abreast with regulatory developments, and informing the legal team and the relevant Company departments of noteworthy developments that could affect business;
  • Interpret and practically apply any regulatory developments to the Company’s context, while at the same time taking into consideration commercial objectives;
  • Critically evaluate regulatory frameworks, both proactively, and on the back of requests by members across the business, providing constructive advice to the business;
  • Drafting and reviewing routine submissions to Regulators, or any regulator notifications and interactions, as and when required by business;
  • Assisting the business from a legal and regulatory perspective on any issue referred to legal by business, most often by compliance or corporate teams;
  • Representing the legal team in any relevant internal committees, and proactively presenting the legal position within such meetings;
  • Representing the Company and its interests on any relevant trade association on which you may be appointed, and relaying any gathered information to the legal team and the business;
  • Proactively working with colleagues in the UK, Malta and Gibraltar to ensure the effective sharing of good practice and a consistent risk approach whilst maintaining a network within the gambling industry that facilitates the performance of this role.

  • 5+ years PQE, with proven gambling regulatory experience (in a B2C environment preferably or alternatively at a law firm or regulator) you'll have an impressive academic and legal background
  • Collaborative team player with an excellent attention to detail with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues across the business, and externally within the industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to patiently explain any legal position being presented
  • Commercial in approach, understanding the impact of legal issues or solutions on the operational activities of the business
