Job description

The Senior Group Accountant provides support to the international subsidiaries through accounting, review, analysis, and reporting of each period’s close activities. The role will also provide training to our international subsidiaries, ensuring department goals and objectives are achieved in alignment with DaVita's Mission and Core Values.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position; however, these are not exhaustive:

  1. Ensure accurate US GAAP/IFRS financials and local statutory financials are properly prepared, including maintenance of GAAP to statutory financial reconciliations.
  2. Take responsibility for general ledger functions such as journal entry preparation, account analysis, account reconciliation, and ad hoc schedules.
  3. Prepare and analyze financial statements, including variance analysis, aging schedules, and account reconciliations.
  4. Supervise and support finance team members to ensure efficient processing of accounting tasks.
  5. Review and approve work prepared by others, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reports.
  6. Ensure compliance with accounting standards.
  7. Provide financial insights to management.
  8. Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud.
  9. Analyze financial data to identify trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  10. Serve as a primary contact for the International Operations.
  11. Support US and international statutory audit processes, ensuring timely and accurate country-specific filings.
  12. Undertake training activities for international teammates as required.
  13. Participate in special accounting projects as necessary.
  14. Prepare communications such as memos, presentation charts, and process documentation.
  15. Able and willing to undertake international travel if required.

Qualifications

The following are the qualifications and certifications associated with this job position. Some are required, while others are preferred:

  1. Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA
  2. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required
  3. Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in performing accounting functions, including at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or lead role
  4. General knowledge of SOX, US GAAP/IFRS, and accounting procedures required
  5. Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  6. Experience with Oracle is preferred
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  8. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  9. Knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese is an advantage
