Senior Ground Engineering Lead | NEC4 & D-Wall Specialist

Job summary

AE Partners is seeking a senior leader to drive multiple fronts of ground engineering at Sizewell C. You will ensure safety, quality, contract performance and programme outcomes, while mentoring engineers and managing stakeholders.

The role requires extensive NEC4 experience, CSCS and strong planning skills (P6/MS Project). You will lead commercial activity, ensure compliance, and coordinate across technical, procurement, quality and safety teams on a large-scale site.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in senior leadership of work fronts preferred, but not essential.
• Degree in Civil/Geotechnical; IEng/CEng desirable.
• CSCS required; SMSTS; AP Course preferred; Incident Investigation training; NEC4 accreditation preferred.
• Advanced D-Wall/soil mixing/grouting; rapid issue resolution.
• Terminal float/critical path mastery; delay analysis; NEC4 processes.

Responsibilities

• Lead resource allocation for ground engineering works; resolve technical issues; drive close-out of non-conformities.
• Lead investigations and root-cause; provide visible safety leadership; trend recurring issues.
• Set/approve briefing content; deliver client/stakeholder briefings; audit briefing quality/records.
• Define workface procurement plans; hire vs buy; manage subcontractor performance/variations.
• Own QA plan for D-Wall/soil mixing scope; ensure ITP coverage; close NCRs; data-driven QA reporting.
• Benchmark/analyse rates for wall panels and soil mixing; lead weekly productivity reviews; track outcomes.
• Own detailed sequencing; manage total/free/terminal float; run critical path checks; delay analysis; recovery resequencing with PM.
• Lead EWs/NCEs/CEs preparation; manage cost/value trends; contribute forecast and earned value.
• Ensure rigorous NEC4 compliance; lead change documentation/responses; brief team on obligations; secure timely programme acceptance updates.
• Coach/mentor engineers; conduct difficult conversations; manage performance and disciplinary matters.
