Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a highly skilled optometrist, ophthalmic nurse or orthoptist for a fixed-term 12-month maternity cover in its glaucoma ophthalmology team. The role involves weekly consultant-led sessions in diagnostic and treatment centres to develop advanced glaucoma skills and deliver timely, high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

GOC or HCPC or NMC Registered
Post Graduate Professional cert in glaucoma or independent prescriber or advanced practice portfolio
Experience in a glaucoma clinic or ophthalmic clinic setting
Ability to diagnose assess and manage glaucoma patients

Responsibilities

Work as a highly skilled autonomous senior practitioner with expert glaucoma testing skills and patient-centred care.
Responsible for diagnosis, planning, implementation and monitoring of treatment plans using advanced clinical reasoning.
Collaborate closely with the glaucoma consultant ophthalmologist and non-medical service lead for glaucoma.
Provide highly specialist advice to the multidisciplinary team and ensure safe practice with policies and protocols.
