Job summary

Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust invites applications for a full-time consultant in Geriatric Medicine to join the existing team of seven geriatricians. This new appointment responds to rising frail elderly admissions and aims to develop front-end services with specialist nursing staff and a Geriatric Fellow.

The appointee will help develop pathways for elderly patients early in acute illness, link with county frailty services and community teams, and contribute to teaching and governance.

Qualifications

• Consultant level in Geriatric Medicine or equivalent.
• Willingness to contribute to education for students and junior staff.
• Commitment to service development and quality improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop front end frailty pathways and elderly medicine services.
• Provide teaching and train junior medical staff and nurses.
• Participate in departmental meetings and governance activities.
• Take part in the on call medical rota and audits.
