Skilled Careers Ltd in London is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical design across buildings and infrastructure. You will own technical solutions, mentor junior staff and collaborate with structural and civil teams to deliver robust project outcomes.

Ideal candidates bring substantial geotechnical consultancy experience, strong knowledge of UK standards and proficiency with major geotechnical software.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant geotechnical consultancy experience.
• Strong foundation engineering and ground movement background.
• Experience delivering geotechnical designs for complex buildings or infrastructure.
• Knowledge of BS, Eurocodes and UK geotechnical guidance.
• Proficient in PLAXIS 2D/3D, Oasys XDisp, WallAP, Settle3 and SLOPE/W.
• Ability to develop design solutions, perform calculations and produce reports.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design work and deliverables.
• Strong communication and client-facing skills.
• Proactive problem-solving and commitment to CPD.
• Ability to mentor less experienced engineers.
• Chartered status with ICE or commitment to chartership is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Leading and delivering geotechnical design packages for a diverse range of projects.
• Designing and assessing shallow and deep foundations (piles, rafts, piled raft).
• Design and analysis of deep excavations, basements, retaining walls and temporary works.
• Soil-structure interaction assessments, settlement analyses and ground movement predictions.
• Developing practical geotechnical solutions with safety, buildability, programme and cost in mind.
• Preparing and reviewing technical reports, design calculations and specifications.
• Reviewing ground investigation data to inform design decisions.
• Coordinating with structural, civil and other disciplines for integrated design.
• Providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
• Managing project tasks, resources, budgets and deadlines with quality standards.
• Liaising with clients, contractors and stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
• Contributing to technical reviews, business development and team growth.
