A F Howland Associates Limited (AFHA) is a well-established geotechnical and geo-environmental consultancy with two cost centres based in the South East of England. Our head office is located in Norwich, Norfolk, and we have a subsidiary office in Long Melford, Suffolk.
We operate nationally on infrastructure, utilities frameworks, and small to large developments on both greenfield and brownfield projects throughout the UK. Our specialization includes providing data to support the design and construction of engineering projects, from initial ground investigation to reviewing ground parameters. This may include installing high-quality geotechnical and environmental instrumentation for monitoring civil engineering and infrastructure works, including ground gas and water quality assessments.
We have particular expertise in trenchless construction, soil-structure interaction assessment, and obtaining regulatory approval for such works.
We have developed our own industry-approved software, GEODASY, for geotechnical data processing and assessment, simplifying the creation of report-ready exploratory hole records and data charts.
AFHA joined the Celnor Group in December 2023, benefiting from group support and interaction with other organizations under the Group umbrella.
We seek a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Norwich-based team at a senior level to assist with the technical development and expansion of our geotechnical projects.
The responsibilities include:
You should be familiar with UK site investigation techniques, soil and rock understanding to BS 5930+A2, and Eurocode 7 requirements for geotechnical reports. Experience with designs like slope stability, excavations, retaining walls, and foundations is preferred. An interest or experience in trenchless construction systems and related certification (CD 622, Network Rail procedures for URX and UTX) is advantageous.
This role offers a unique opportunity for career growth within a dynamic, expanding team, with significant autonomy over professional development.
AFHA offers a competitive remuneration package, details to be discussed at interview, based on skills and experience. We provide full training, ongoing professional development, life assurance, 28 days annual leave, and a contributory pension scheme (company matches up to 5%). A mobile phone and company vehicle are provided for fieldwork and travel needs.
