We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic professional to join our client's team to manage a variety of Geotechnical engineering projects across the UK, with a focus on the North of England, particularly around Leeds. As part of a dynamic team of Geo-environmental and Engineering Geologists, the successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation of Geo-environmental Desk Studies, Site Investigation Reports, Coal Mining Risk Assessments, and Tenders for grouting and earthworks projects. The role also involves responding to regulatory queries and managing project specifications.

While this is primarily an office-based position, there will be opportunities to visit sites, supervise fieldwork, and occasionally carry out tasks such as logging boreholes and trial pits. You will also assist the Department Head in the day-to-day management of the department, oversee junior staff, and contribute to their professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of Geo-environmental and Site Investigation Reports, including Coal Mining Risk Reports
  • Development of tenders and specifications for grouting and earthworks
  • Management of fieldwork, including supervising site operations and ensuring quality control
  • Log and sample soil and rock in line with technical standards
  • Oversee laboratory testing schedules and the preparation of interpretative reports on geotechnical and contamination matters
  • Prepare earthworks specifications, remediation strategies, and validation reports
  • Liaise with regulators and attend meetings with clients as required

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Degree in Geology or Engineering Geology (essential)
  • A Master's degree in Engineering Geology or a related Environmental Geology field (desirable)
  • Chartered Geologist status (CGeol) or evidence of working towards it (essential)
  • At least 5 years of experience in a similar role

Desirable Experience:

  • Slope stability assessment
  • CLEA Risk Assessment
  • Groundwater DQRA

You should possess ability to work with autonomy and as part of a team, delegating work and mentoring junior staff. Strong communication skills, proven experience in a client facing role and commitment to CPD are vital, as is a valid driving licence.

There is a competitive package on offer and generous benefits, including flexible working up to 2 days per week from home, early finish on Fridays, health benefit scheme and annual bonus.
