Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Full-Time | Monday–Friday (41.5 hours/week) | Early Finish Fridays
Location: Flexible (Ideally based near Swadlincote or North West)

A leading specialist contractor is currently seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a technically rewarding role within a well-established and growing organisation.

This position is ideal for someone with strong geotechnical design experience who enjoys working across a range of civil engineering and residential projects. You’ll play a key part in supporting project delivery from concept to completion, with responsibility for technical leadership, mentoring, and high-quality design work.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver geotechnical design and analysis for tender and contract purposes

Contribute to foundation design using piling and ground improvement techniques

Support internal teams through peer reviews, training, and technical advice

Ensure compliance with relevant design standards and specifications (Eurocode/BS)

Collaborate with project teams, clients, and stakeholders

Attend site visits and meetings as needed

Candidate Requirements

Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related discipline

Strong knowledge of Eurocode and British Standards

Proven experience in complex geotechnical design

Background in piling is desirable but not essential

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

UK driving licence (essential due to travel requirements)

The employer offers flexibility around location. Candidates should ideally be based near the Swadlincote Head Office or in the North West (Chorley) and must be willing to travel to the North West office when required.
