Job description

We are seeking a forward-thinking and innovative Senior Garment Technologist to join our dynamic team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on pushing boundaries and thinking outside the box. You will be knowledgeable in grade fitting and confident in accurately amending graded specs based on fitting data, with a passion for fit and sizing. You will be at the forefront of innovation, redefining technical specifications and setting new industry standards. Your expertise will ensure our garments not only meet the highest quality standards but also lead in fit, comfort, and performance for our Snaggler community.

Location and Team

Your direct team members will be in our design studio in East London – Mirror Works Stratford, approximately a 2-minute walk from Pudding Mill Lane DLR station. You will work from there a minimum of 3 days a week and collaborate directly within the technical department alongside the Design and Development team. We also have an office in Istanbul and warehouses around the world that you will liaise with at times.

You’ll report to the Fit & Quality Manager/Chief Product Officer.

Key Responsibilities

1. Likely working on products such as jersey dresses, tops, bottoms, leggings, knitwear, and lingerie swimwear. May also involve woven products like denim and tailoring. Please check the Snag website for our diverse categories.
2. Drive fit sessions focusing on garment comfort and functionality.
3. Accurately record fit comments, annotate fit photos, and communicate seamlessly with suppliers using the PLM system.
4. Measure and quality-check products prior to fittings.
5. Approve AQL reports with the supply base and conduct quality checks on stock when necessary.
6. Approve shipment samples, ensuring fit and quality standards are maintained against pre-production samples.
7. Create initial specifications for new products, collaborating with the Product Development team to select fabrics and trims.
8. Measure models at the start of each fit session to ensure alignment with sizing expectations.
9. Read lab test reports, troubleshoot issues, and approve test reports before bulk cutting and care labels.
10. Support the creation and maintenance of internal processes, manuals, and documents.
11. Liaise with the Product Development team to ensure the technical critical path is on schedule.
12. Communicate clearly with suppliers via email and video calls.
13. Maintain and update the technical milestones in the critical path.
14. Be highly organized with strong attention to detail.
15. Possess knowledge of grade fitting, pattern adjustments, and specifications based on fitting data.
16. Apply creative problem-solving to identify improvement opportunities.
17. Have accurate measuring and fitting skills, including running fit sessions.
18. Understand garment construction, patterns, fabrics, and trims.
19. Fix fit issues and identify problems in patterns.
20. Have knowledge of fabrications, test reports, and care label approvals.
21. Be familiar with managing critical paths and proficient in Excel and PLM systems.
22. Be proactive in fast-paced environments, especially with plus size and fuller bust products.
23. Understand international compliance, sustainable fabrics, and product labeling.
24. Experience in measuring models and conducting international supplier quality checks.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with lingerie, swimwear, adaptive wear, mastectomy bras, nursing bras, or other specialist products.
• Experience with accessory products.
