Job summary

The City of Edinburgh Council is seeking a Senior Gardener to join the Parks & Greenspace Operational Service. The role covers multiple locations, based at Inch Park Depot or South Gyle Depot, and involves horticultural, landscaping and grounds maintenance work across the city.

You will work in a small team led by a Supervisor Gardener, support apprentices and new starts, and help implement health and safety practices while delivering high standards of outdoor maintenance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge and skills in horticulture and parks and grounds maintenance is required and a relevant qualification to SVQ 2 level or equivalent or evidence of required experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out horticultural, landscaping and grounds maintenance tasks at various locations across a geographical area.
• Work within a small team under a Supervisor Gardener who leads the team on a daily basis.
• Assist in training and instruction of gardening staff as required.
• May operate a range of vehicles, machinery and equipment as needed.
• Adhere to health and safety guidance and risk assessments on site.
