Job summary

Rocksteady Studios in London is seeking a Senior Gameplay Programmer to join a team delivering world-class AAA titles across multiple platforms. You’ll focus on creating exciting, emergent gameplay by coordinating combat- and navigation-related NPC behaviors that empower player freedom and choice.

This hybrid role lets you work from home or from the office on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, with onsite collaboration in Kentish Town, London on Tue/Wed.

Qualifications

• Experience developing gameplay systems in C++, including AI, navigation, and combat.
• Understanding modern gaming platforms and console/PC development.
• Contributed to a AAA game title delivery.
• Strong game design and portfolio evidence.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Creating, developing, and maintaining gameplay systems and features in C++.
• Producing solutions to large, complex, and sometimes not well-defined gameplay problems.
• Working closely with Design to create engaging gameplay, and informing them of risks and opportunities.
• Providing suggestions and feedback to other members of your team, including via code reviews.
• Being a positive, active, and contributing team member taking broad responsibility for your work.
• Communicating effectively with your Lead, your team, Production and other departments.
• Supporting production processes, including backlog review, task estimation and breakdown, and Jira ticket management.
• Following, and championing development best practices.
