Alpaca is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for New Markets - EU to design, implement, and operate core services powering millions of trades across borders. You will lead regional initiatives, mentor engineers, and ensure reliability in a remote, globally distributed team.

The role emphasizes incident command, scalable architecture, and collaboration with regulators and product teams to enable multi-currency, multi-region support. You will drive architectural decisions and champion reliability.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Go or similar backend languages and robust system architecture.
• Strong problem-solving and proactive mindset.
• Excellent communication for global teams and regulators.
• Experience as incident commander and leading troubleshooting.
• Experience with event-driven design.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, globally distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Design a highly scalable, mission-critical brokerage system.
• Develop and enhance middle- and back-office systems and APIs.
• Collaborate with regional teams to enable multi-language, multi-currency support.
• Coordinate with global tech leads and participate in on-call rotating duties.
• Troubleshoot incidents to maintain system integrity and performance.
• Navigate regulatory requirements and support international growth.
