Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Manchester. You’ll build end-to-end features across frontend React/TypeScript and backend Java/Spring Boot, handling data with MySQL and GraphQL.

Our stack runs on AWS and Kubernetes, with observability via Datadog, and we’re exploring agentic AI workflows to automate routine work. You’ll own complex initiatives, mentor teammates, and shape technical direction while delivering impactful software used by police forces and

Qualifications

• Proven software engineering experience with ownership of complex systems and large-scale initiatives.
• Experience mentoring and supporting other engineers.
• Strong architectural judgement and ability to drive technical direction.
• Experience leading projects across multiple teams or domains, influencing beyond immediate area.
• Strategic mindset balancing immediate delivery with long-term health.
• Experience with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript + React, and MySQL.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop full-stack software across frontend, backend, and data layers used by UK police custody suites.
• Own features end-to-end from database migration to UI implementation.
• Collaborate across teams and mentor engineers to maintain high code quality.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate code reviews and workflow automation.
• Partner with security and operations to ensure reliable, scalable software.
