Job summary

Mark43 is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Manchester. You’ll work across the full stack to build systems used by UK police custody suites, from database migrations to UI, with a stack including React, TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, GraphQL, AWS, Kubernetes, Argo CD, Terraform and Datadog.

The UK team of 25 operates in Central Manchester, within a 400-person global company that combines startup energy with strong backing.

Qualifications

• Professional software engineering experience with ownership of complex systems.
• Ability to mentor other engineers and lead projects across teams.
• Strong architectural judgment and long-term technical health focus.
• Experience with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, React, and MySQL.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code.

Responsibilities

• Own features end-to-end from database migrations to UI.
• Collaborate across front-end, back-end, and data infra teams.
• Architect scalable solutions and guide technical direction.
• Lead multi-team initiatives and ensure timely delivery.
• Experiment with AI-driven workflows to improve engineering processes.
