Job description

We are looking for an experienced full stack developer to join our engineering team in Cambridge. You will primarily be working on the Controller - a web-based management platform for our product. The Controller provides security policy and software updates for the endpoint security product installed on the client PCs. It also receives status, events and threat data from these clients, including malware traces used to produce interactive visualisations in the Controller UI and summarised in reports. The Controller is deployed at scale, both on-premises at individual corporate enterprises with tens of thousands of clients, and in the cloud across multiple Amazon AWS instances. We are looking to scale further, while also adding support for new products and enhancing existing features (see https://www.hpwolf.com/).

This role will initially focus on incorporating aspects of the Controller functionality into HP's Workforce Experience Platform (https://workforceexperience.hp.com/), bringing the benefits of Wolf Security to a broader customer base.

What you will do as a Senior Full Stack Developer:
  • The API and UI backend (Python 3, Django, SQL)
  • The background worker service / task queues (Celery)
  • Front-end UI and data visualisation (React, Typescript, Vue.js)
  • Deployment to AWS
  • Integration with HP's own Cloud Platform Services and other HP Products.
  • Unit tests, automated installation tests, anything else we can have the CI system do for us
  • There may also be an opportunity to work on other supporting cloud services where we make use of Go, PostgreSQL and AWS Lambda.
Technical requirements for the Senior Full Stack Developer:
  • Proven experience working with Python
  • Understanding of React, Django, TypeScript and SQL
  • Successful experience of designing scalable web services
  • Ability to debug and optimize complex queries
  • Ability to work across technologies and provide innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
A great Senior Full Stack Developer will have:
  • Experience designing and deploying Cloud services at scale (we use Amazon AWS)
  • Experience using task queue systems, such as Celery
  • Knowledge of web security issues and how to design to avoid them

Why join HP Wolf Security

HP Wolf Security is central to HP’s strategy in the PC market, with security designed into hardware, firmware, and software. This integrated approach enables HP to differentiate through built-in, enterprise-grade protection and manageability. This role sits at the heart of that strategy, helping deliver the tools that allow customers to deploy, manage, and trust secure PCs at scale. The primary focus of the HP Wolf Security team is developing cyber security solutions to protect our customers devices and data. The digital threat landscape is ever-changing and as the cyber security industry reacts and adapts to changes, so too do the malware authors.

Our unique micro-virtualization technology ensures that customers are protected from even the most bleeding edge cyber security threats. That micro-virtualization technology forms a key pillar in a wider cyber security suite that we’re actively developing. Our history: Inspired by the isolation principles of traditional virtualization, our team known then as Bromium, created a game-changing technology called micro-virtualization to protect end users against advanced malware. Every task the user performs, such as opening a document or clicking on a link, is isolated in its own micro-VM, with access to just the resources required for that task, and existing just for the life of the task. Protection is thus provided through isolation, without relying on detection, hence reliably defending the user from polymorphic and even zero-day malware. Bromium was acquired by HP Inc on 19 September 2019 forming HP Wolf Security. For more information, visit our website: https://www.hp.com/uk-en/security/endpoint-security-solutions.html
