Job summary

Clear Street is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for its Payments team to scale and modernise our global payments infrastructure, building reliable API-driven systems that integrate with banks and gateways and support expansion into new lines of business.

You will collaborate with product, design, operations and backend engineers to deliver high-quality experiences, drive technical decisions, and improve performance and reliability using Java, Spring Boot, TypeScript/React, Go and Python.

Qualifications

• Master Java and Spring Boot
• Hands-on experience building scalable architectures utilizing Kafka and Kubernetes
• Solid understanding of global payment ecosystems and external banking APIs

Responsibilities

• Engineer highly reliable, API-driven payment systems that streamline operations and support global expansion
• Translate product and design requirements into clean, maintainable components
• Collaborate with product managers, business, operations, designers and back-end engineers to deliver high-quality experiences
• Identify and resolve performance, accessibility, and usability issues across the application
• Participate in code reviews, contribute to shared component libraries, and uphold engineering standards
• Support the operational health of features and maintain a high SLA
