Job summary

Clear Street seeks a Software Engineer to scale and modernise its global payments infrastructure. You will build reliable, API-driven systems that integrate with banks and payment gateways while enabling new business lines and streamlined operations.

You will work with Java/Spring Boot and contribute across frontend and backend components, embracing distributed systems, testing, and strong engineering standards. Office presence is required at least three days a week.

Qualifications

• Master Java and Spring Boot and comfortable with TypeScript/React, Go or Python.
• Proven track record delivering large-scale engineering problems end-to-end.
• Experience building scalable architectures with Kafka and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Engineer reliable, API-driven payment systems for global expansion.
• Translate requirements into clean, maintainable components.
• Collaborate with product, design, operations and backend engineers.
• Identify performance, accessibility, and usability issues.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to shared libraries.
• Maintain health and availability of features with strong SLAs.
