Job summary

ONI in Oxford is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build scalable, high-performance frontend solutions for automated super-resolution microscopy. You will collaborate with product, UX, QA, and backend teams to deliver outstanding user experiences, leveraging AI-powered development practices.

The role requires 5+ years of frontend experience, expertise in React/TypeScript, RESTful APIs, and modern frontend architectures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years experience as frontend developer with large scale applications.
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs and asynchronous programming.
• Excellent skills in React, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Experience with state management solutions (Redux, Zustand, React Context or similar).
• Familiarity with databases (Postgres/MongoDB/MySQL).
• Experience writing unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Familiarity with Git-based workflows and CI/CD.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to clean code.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain modern applications using React, TypeScript, and JavaScript.
• Build reusable UI components and scalable frontend architectures.
• Contribute to end-to-end system architecture for speed and scale.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and frontend automation.
• Champion engineering practices including testing, accessibility, performance, and maintainable code.
• Engage in agile development including design, implementation, and deployment.
• Ensure performance, uptime, and scale with high code quality.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, UX designers, scientists, and backend engineers to translate user needs into software.
