The Opportunity

We are proud to be working in partnership with a major defence systems integrator to recruit a Senior Frontend Developer into a critical delivery team. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-performing, mission-led environment focused on building robust, scalable data and analytics platforms for government and defence customers.

This hybrid role offers the chance to work on-site in London just two days a week initially, with increased flexibility over time. You'll be part of a team delivering impactful solutions in a secure and complex data landscape—an ideal environment for those who want to develop cutting-edge systems and contribute to national resilience.

The Role

As a Senior Frontend Developer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, development, and operation of innovative front-end solutions that interface with enterprise-scale data ecosystems. Working in close collaboration with data engineers, delivery managers, external partners, and client stakeholders, you will help drive the transformation of critical data into actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities Include

1. Designing and leading the implementation of front-end solutions for data-driven platforms.
2. Developing and supporting real-time and batch data processing environments.
3. Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks across data pipelines and UI layers.
4. Championing best practices in front-end development, using modern frameworks and tools.
5. Supporting data integration, migration, and transformation efforts.
6. Contributing to project planning, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
7. Mentoring junior engineers and helping to shape development standards and tools.

The Person

We're looking for a proactive and collaborative software engineer who thrives in agile, multi-disciplinary teams and enjoys the challenges of working in secure, data-rich environments.

To Succeed In This Role, You'll Bring

1. Strong front-end development experience, ideally with data-centric applications.
2. Experience in developing applications in one or more Javascript frameworks, React, Angular, etc.
3. A strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
4. Solid experience with Python (especially data and machine learning libraries).
5. Experience working with ETL platforms and cloud-based data engineering tools (AWS, Azure, or OCI).
6. Excellent communication skills and a solutions-focused mindset.

Desirable experience includes:

1. AWS or Azure certifications.
2. Exposure to Power BI.
3. Experience with streaming technologies like Kafka.
