Senior Front-End Developer

Application Deadline: 12 October 2026

Department: IT

Employment Type: Full Time

Location: Cramlington

Reporting To: Richard Rutherford Hilton

Description

As Disturbia continues to grow, we are looking for a Senior Front-End Developer to join our IT & Dev team in Newcastle. This is a senior, hands-on role with ownership of the quality, performance and maintainability of our customer-facing Shopify experience. The successful candidate will translate commercial and creative priorities into fast, accessible and engaging storefront experiences; lead theme architecture and front-end engineering standards; and use data, experimentation and sound technical judgement to improve conversion and customer experience.

Our e-commerce operation is centred on a multi-store Shopify Plus environment serving multiple international markets. The storefronts integrate with marketing, analytics, review, customer service, logistics and mobile-app platforms, with additional capabilities delivered through a combination of in-house solutions and carefully selected third‑party apps.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of IT, the successful candidate will take technical ownership of front-end delivery across the Shopify Plus ecosystem. They will work closely with e-commerce, creative, marketing and technical colleagues to turn business goals and customer insight into robust, measurable improvements, while setting standards for front-end architecture, code quality, testing and release discipline.

  • Own the architecture, development and continuous improvement of Shopify themes across multiple storefronts and international markets.
  • Turn customer insight, commercial priorities and design concepts into high-quality, reusable front-end experiences that improve conversion and customer experience.
  • Lead optimisation of storefront performance, accessibility, responsiveness and Core Web Vitals.
  • Partner with e-commerce, marketing and creative teams to deliver data-informed improvements through experimentation, analytics and CRO initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain front-end engineering standards, component libraries, testing practices and technical documentation.
  • Assess and implement new technologies, integrations and third‑party applications that enhance customer experience and business performance.
  • Take ownership of projects from discovery and technical design through implementation, release and post‑launch monitoring, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proactively identify technical debt, risks and opportunities for innovation, continuously improving both the storefront and development workflows
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Candidates should have substantial hands‑on experience delivering production front-end solutions within the Shopify ecosystem. They must be able to demonstrate the following essential skills:

  • Advanced Shopify Liquid development experience within Shopify Plus environments.

  • The ability to translate design concepts, UX requirements and customer needs into production‑ready experiences.
  • Strong knowledge of Git, code review processes, testing practices and modern deployment workflows.
  • Commercial awareness, using analytics, experimentation and performance data to influence technical decisions and drive customer outcomes.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across both technical and non‑technical stakeholders and provide technical leadership.
  • A proactive, self‑directed approach with the ability to identify opportunities, solve problems independently and continuously improve platforms, processes and ways of working

The following skills are desirable but not essential

  • Working with Shopify Storefront, GraphQL or REST APIs and integrating front‑end experiences with third‑party services
  • Developing Shopify Functions and UI Extensions using Preact for checkout, customer account and admin extensibility
