Bespoke Handling is looking to appoint an experienced freight forwarder, to lead the freight forwarding part of our small but dedicated team, supporting automotive and motorsport logistics across the UK, mainland Europe, and internationally.

Located close to Gatwick Airport, we pride ourselves on a service which goes above and beyond those of our competitors, delivering results for our customers. As Bespoke Handling continues to grow, the key responsibilities of the newly created Senior Freight Forwarder role will be to efficiently and effectively lead our team & deploy resources to ensure all logistics are executed on time and according to plan, whilst also being proactive and reactive as and when plans change.

The role will require planning and optimising shipments, alongside the management of all logistics activities, equipment and parts throughout the UK, Europe and to global destinations. It will require a close working relationship with airlines, shipping lines, customs agents and local contacts on the ground to ensure the smooth transit of goods from beginning to end.

The role will suit someone who has experience within the freight forwarding industry, with a particular interest and understanding of air freight, and delivering under pressure for time critical operations. This position would be perfect for someone who is keen to make the role their own and take their career to the next level. An interest and understanding in cars and the motorsport world would be highly beneficial, but not essential.

We specialise in delivering a bespoke and efficient service to our clients across the globe, with a reputation built on service excellence and dedication.

The role

  • Day-to-day freight forward management for cars, equipment and parts across the globe
  • Developing relationships with both customers & third-party logistics partners
  • Liaise with sub-contractors to arrange carriage of goods
  • Work with, manage and lead, the existing freight forwarding team to help motivate and lead
  • Manage operational workflow to meet customer schedules
  • Ensure company policies are followed

Duties / responsibilities

  • Provide quotations for all international enquiries
  • Arrange the transportation ensuring all customs procedures are in place
  • Keep customers informed of progress at every stage of the shipment
  • Office-based, near Gatwick Airport

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years freight forwarding experience
  • Knowledge of freight forwarding and logistics operational management
  • Experience of the motorsport and automotive industry beneficial, but not essential

Essential skills

  • Direct knowledge of freight forwarding and customs procedures
  • Strong contacts list within the air and sea freight industries
  • Organised with a strong attention to detail
  • IT literate
  • Team player
  • Language skills beneficial, but not essential
