The position promises a collaborative environment where you can lead and mentor junior engineers while advancing your career through a commitment to training and development. If you're ready to make a significant impact in a forward-thinking organization, this opportunity is for you.
Location: Gloucester
Salary: £££ competitive + market leading benefits package
My client supports the delivery of high-performance appliances for the Defensive market and is looking to expand their team with a Senior FPGA Firmware Engineer.
They develop from a blank sheet with security as a primary consideration, designing the whole appliance from high performance C++, embedded software, FPGA firmware (VHDL), custom PCBs, power distribution, and thermal management.
The Senior Firmware Engineer will be involved in the full lifecycle of product development, from concept, design, through delivery, and into support. They predominantly use Intel (previously Altera) FPGAs, with code developed using VHDL.
This is predominantly an active hands-on role and, as such, solid experience with VHDL is a must, as is familiarity with at least 1 modern FPGA tool chain (ideally Intel but could be Xilinx, Achronix, or similar). As with most current FPGA designs, significant use of the provided embedded blocks within those FPGAs is made, so any experience in integrating with these would be highly valuable.
As with most senior engineers, you would be expected to lead small teams of 1-3 junior engineers and provide support and mentoring through their activities.
In return, we offer engaging technical challenges to solve, a collaborative and trusted work environment, and the opportunity to develop a career that can encompass the full range of the company's activities, from product development, research, technical consultancy, business consultancy, and customer engagement.
The package:
You'll receive a very competitive salary (salary offered depends on level of experience) and other benefits including pension, life assurance, and 25 days' (plus bank holidays). In addition, there are other non-tangible benefits including a commitment to training, development, and career progression.
Note: This role requires UK defence security clearance to SC level as a minimum; you must be SC clearable to apply for this role.
