Job summary

MAKO is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to shape our forward-looking finances. You will manage the grant portfolio, monitor spend and budget-to-actuals, and build budgets for new grant projects.

You will partner with teams on annual and quarterly budgets, create monthly cash flow forecasts, and develop tools and models to reveal risks, opportunities, and the funding runway. You’ll explain numbers to engineers, scientists, and executives so everyone acts on clear financial insight.

Qualifications

• Qualified Chartered Accountant with experience in financial analysis, FP&A, management accounting, commercial finance, or similar.
• You can explain a number to an engineer, a scientist, or a CEO, and have each of them walk away knowing what to do about it.
• Advanced Excel skills, excellent attention to detail, and strong time management and organisational skills
• Comfortable building things that don't exist yet
• Big-4, government grants, or R&D funding experience is a bonus, not essential

Responsibilities

• Manage the grant portfolio, monitor spend, budget-to-actuals, and grant reporting.
• Partner with teams on annual/quarterly budgets and run monthly budget-to-actual analysis to identify risks and opportunities.
• Prepare monthly cash flow forecasts and expand forecasting and planning as the role develops.
• Use modelling and scenario analysis to support leadership decisions with real numbers.
• Develop reporting dashboards and planning tools to improve finance processes
