Job summary

Cambridgeshire County Council is seeking a Senior FM Engineer to lead building fabric and engineering asset management across a large public estate. You will oversee planned, reactive and capital maintenance, work with contractors and stakeholders, and provide expert advice to ensure safety, compliance and efficiency.

Qualifications

• Experience in building fabric, mechanical and electrical assets management.
• Ability to translate technical information into practical solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management and proactive approach.
• Experience procuring and monitoring contractors and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and delivery of planned, preventive, lifecycle and reactive maintenance programmes.
• Provide expert advice on mechanical, electrical and fabric matters to colleagues and senior leaders.
• Manage maintenance and improvement projects from inception to completion within time and budget constraints.
• Oversee contractors and consultants ensuring safety, compliance and value for money.
• Support development of long-term asset management and investment strategies.
• Identify and mitigate building risks in line with legislation and best practice.
• Conduct condition assessments and inspections to prioritise needs.
• Act as stakeholder in capital works, refurbishment and estate improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to sustainability and energy efficiency goals across the estate.
• Collaborate with Facilities Management, Strategic Assets and service users to resolve issues.
• Assist in budget planning and financial monitoring with technical input.
• Maintain accurate asset information and records for governance.
