Job summary

Vertical Aerospace is seeking a Senior Modelling & Simulation Engineer for Flight Control Systems to provide technical leadership in developing and integrating FCS models into our aircraft simulations. You will ensure models are credible, traceable and fit for purpose across desktop, real-time and HIL environments.

You will collaborate with Flight Controls engineers, software teams and external suppliers to deliver high-fidelity models supporting verification, validation and certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years leading aircraft modelling and simulation solutions.
• Expert MATLAB and Simulink for model development, analysis and verification.
• Deep understanding of aircraft systems modelling, especially Flight Control Systems.
• Experience defining modelling approaches across multiple fidelity levels for real-time systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of Flight Control System modelling capability and architecture.
• Own development, integration and validation of FCS models and interfaces.
• Provide technical leadership for FCS model integration into the aircraft simulation env.
• Collaborate with engineers and suppliers to define modelling requirements and solutions.
• Lead simulations across desktop, real-time and hardware-in-the-loop environments.
• Analyse latency, interface behaviour and failure scenarios to improve accuracy.
• Support aircraft handling qualities, tests and investigations via simulation.
• Lead simulation activities supporting aircraft certification with evidence.
