Job summary

Isle of Wight NHS Trust is seeking a Fire Safety Advisor to join the Estates & Facilities team. The role provides specialist fire safety advice across the Trust, covering compliance, risk assessments, audits and staff training.

The post travels to peripheral sites and offers absence cover for the Fire Safety Manager. Five years of fire safety experience are essential, with training delivery experience and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Science or engineering-based education or extensive fire safety experience.
• Certificate in Training Practice or extensive experience in training delivery.
• 5 years' experience of fire safety.
• Experience collaborating across organisational boundaries and with external agencies to improve standards and influence change.
• Experience of undertaking fire risk assessments.
• Experience of undertaking fire safety audits.

Responsibilities

• Ensure high fire safety standards across the Trust's estate.
• Ensure legislative compliance and a safe environment for staff, patients and the public.
• Provide expert advice and guidance to managers and staff as the focal point for fire safety issues.
• Undertake fire risk assessments and fire safety audits.
• Deliver fire safety training and promote a positive fire safety culture.
• Travel to peripheral sites and provide absence cover for the Fire Safety Manager.
