Job summary

SUEZ is seeking an experienced Principal Fire Engineer to lead fire risk management across UK operations. You will act as a subject matter expert, ensuring compliance with fire safety legislation and regulatory standards while driving practical solutions to reduce risk, protect people and assets.

Salary: £66,930 - £80,049 with up to 20% annual bonus and benefits. Location is UK-wide with national travel 2-3 days per week; home working when not travelling.

Qualifications

• Fire risk assessment experience in high-hazard or construction settings.
• Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, BS 5839, Approved Document B, NFPA codes.
• Experience in fire system design and assessment of upgrades.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake complex fire risk assessments across energy-from-waste facilities.
• Provide expert advice on fire safety legislation and regulations.
• Review fire system designs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Develop robust improvement recommendations for shortfalls.
• Support investigations into fire incidents and root causes.
• Develop and maintain fire safety policies and evacuation plans.
• Produce fire strategies for new buildings via design reviews.
• Collaborate with process teams to embed fire safety requirements.
• Design and deliver fire safety training programmes.
• Liaise with authorities, fire services and auditors.
