Job summary

Brandon James is recruiting a Fire Engineer in London to develop fire strategies for new-build and refurbishment projects within a multidisciplinary consultancy.

You will provide specialist fire safety design advice, review architectural and MEP information, and support projects through design, construction and handover. Hybrid working is available.

The role requires a degree in Fire Engineering or related discipline, consultancy experience, and knowledge of UK Building Regulations.

Qualifications

• Degree in Fire Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in a consultancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of Approved Document B, BS 9991 and BS 9999.
• Understanding of UK Building Regulations and current fire safety legislation.
• Experience producing fire strategies and technical reports.
• Membership of the IFE or another relevant professional body.
• Progress toward Chartered Engineer status would be advantageous.
• Strong client-facing and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Developing fire strategies for new-build and refurbishment projects.
• Providing technical advice on fire safety design and Building Regulations.
• Reviewing architectural, structural and MEP information.
• Supporting projects through design, construction and handover stages.
• Advising on means of escape, compartmentation, smoke control and fire resistance.
• Attending design team meetings and liaising directly with clients.
• Supporting Building Safety Act and Gateway-related requirements where applicable.
• Undertaking site inspections and technical reviews.
• Working across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education and mixed-use developments.
