Overview:

Complete internal and external Fire Risk Assessments, both visual and fully intrusive. Advise clients on fire safety compliance within existing and new build schemes. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop complex designs.

Role Requirements:

Lead aspects of a growing team, reporting directly to the Delivery Director.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years PQE
• External Wall Risk Assessments
• Retrospective and design fire strategies
• Compartmentation Surveys
• Large and small refurbishment and re-cladding projects
• Member of IFE
• Working towards C Build E, CEng, IEng

Skills, Knowledge and Understanding:

• Collaborate closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works, and other key stakeholders.
• Conduct Risk Assessments in line with current legislation.
• Advise clients on pragmatic, cost-effective risk mitigation solutions.
• Assist in the growth and development of a small team, utilizing leadership skills and experience.
• Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, making decisions based on thorough fire engineering analysis.

General Responsibilities:

• Meet or exceed clients' Key Performance Indicators.
• Develop and improve the Quality Management System; report regularly on project status and update fee projections.
• Support Business Development efforts by cultivating new and existing clients to promote our Building Surveying services.
• Assist clients in RAG assessing their property portfolios to identify potential liabilities.
• Review existing fire safety information for clients' buildings and advise on its adequacy.
• Conduct Fire Risk Assessments internally and externally, compiling detailed reports in line with industry guidance.
• Provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to clients regarding their obligations as building owners.
• Peer review reports from other Fire Engineers as requested.
• Collaborate with the project team to develop cost-effective, pragmatic remedial solutions.
• Attend client/resident meetings to explain reports and implications.
• Produce fire strategies, fire safety management plans, planning statements, fire statements, assist with BSR applications, review design drawings and technical data sheets.
• Coordinate with the project team to compile the ERs.
• Work closely with the Clerk of Works and contractors to perform compliance checks during project execution.
• Attend site progress meetings as required.
• Assist in updating and creating new templates; support the wider fire engineering team as needed.
