Overview:
Complete internal and external Fire Risk Assessments, including visual and fully intrusive evaluations. Advise clients on fire safety compliance within existing and new build schemes. Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop complex designs.
Role Requirements:
Lead and work with a growing team, reporting directly to the Delivery Director.
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years PQE
- Experience in External Wall Risk Assessments
- Retrospective and design fire strategies
- Compartmentation Surveys
- Experience with large and small refurbishment and re-cladding projects
- Member of IFE
- Working towards C Build E, CEng, IEng
Skills, Knowledge, and Understanding:
- Collaborate closely with Clients, Contractors, Developers, Clerk of Works, and key stakeholders.
- Conduct Risk Assessments following current legislation.
- Advise clients on pragmatic, cost-effective risk mitigation solutions.
- Contribute to the growth and development of a small team, demonstrating leadership skills.
- Work effectively in a fast-paced environment, making decisions based on thorough fire engineering analysis.

- Primarily Local Authorities, Housing Associations, and other clients
General Responsibilities:
- Meet or exceed clients' Key Performance Indicators.
- Develop and improve the Quality Management System; report regularly on project status and update Fee Projections.
- Assist Business Development efforts to attract and retain clients.
- Assess client buildings to understand potential liabilities.
- Review existing fire safety information and advise on its adequacy.
- Conduct Fire Risk Assessments in line with industry guidance and produce detailed reports.
- Provide CPD training to clients regarding their fire safety obligations.
- Peer review reports from other Fire Engineers as requested.
- Work with the project team to develop cost-effective remedial solutions.
- Attend meetings with clients and residents to explain reports and findings.
- Prepare fire strategies, safety management plans, planning statements, and fire statements.
- Assist with BSR applications and review design drawings and technical data sheets.
- Collaborate with the project team to compile ERs.
- Coordinate with the Clerk of Works and contractors to ensure compliance during works.
- Participate in site progress meetings as needed.
- Support the creation and updating of templates; assist the wider fire engineering team.
