Qualifications

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a UK fire engineering role.
  • Qualified with an IFE-accredited bachelor’s degree (Hons) in engineering together with an accredited master’s degree in Fire Engineering, or an IFE-accredited MEng degree in Fire Engineering.
  • Strong written English skills and the ability to communicate clearly face to face, by telephone and by email.

  • Liaise with approving authorities regarding proposed fire safety designs.
  • Produce fire strategy reports and fee proposals for projects.
  • Mentor, and where required manage, fire engineers.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and generate project work.
  • Undertake quality assurance of team members’ fire strategies and fee proposals.

You will work with a team of experienced fire engineers, demonstrating your skills and expertise while sharing best practice and keeping up to date with changes in fire safety legislation.

  • Demonstrate skills in identifying potential fire safety issues with complex designs and devising appropriate cost-effective solutions for clients.
  • Attend and make a positive contribution to meetings, both internally and externally.
  • Produce a high standard of written English and communicate clearly with clients face to face, by telephone and by email.
  • Demonstrate experience on projects across an extensive range of sectors including residential, healthcare, education and office.

  • Mentor, and where required manage, fire engineers.
  • Ensure a prompt response with the client and design team.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and generate project work.
  • Continually advance your knowledge and skills in fire engineering through Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and work towards achieving Member status with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE).
  • Qualified with an IFE-accredited bachelor's degree (Hons) in engineering together with an accredited master's degree in Fire Engineering, or alternatively an IFE-accredited MEng degree in Fire Engineering.
  • *Minimum three years’ experience in a UK fire engineering role.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic, with a passion for fire engineering.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
  • Strong written English skills and the ability to communicate clearly face to face, by telephone and by email.
  • Ability to plan and prioritise your own workload in response to service needs.

*If you do not meet the criteria, but have a minimum of two years’ experience in a UK fire engineering role and can also demonstrate considerable experience in the fire service, architectural practice or building control, you may still be considered.

Excellent training and development: Personal Development Plan (PDP) identifying learning needs and monitoring progress, structured in-house training programme, mentoring, continuing professional development (CPD) (in-house and external), full involvement in a diverse range of projects from start to finish and paid membership of a relevant professional body.

Well-being ethos: Corporate masseur (monthly), 1-2-1 sessions (monthly) with an open-door policy and generous holiday allowance, including Christmas shutdown.

Flexible working: Flexible approach to working hours and location, part-time hours available and full-time hours of only 35 hours per week.
