Job summary

SportRadar is seeking a Senior FinOps Engineer to strengthen our cloud financial management and governance. You will own cloud cost visibility end to end, drive rate optimisation, and build reporting that turns cloud billing data into actionable insights for engineering, finance and leadership.

The role emphasizes tagging governance, allocation, and strategic use of Reserved Instances and Savings Plans, with collaboration across teams to ensure cost effectiveness and accountability.

Qualifications

• Multiple years in FinOps or cloud financial management.
• Strong understanding of public cloud architecture, preferably AWS.
• Hands-on cloud cost management including tagging governance and RI/Savings Plans.
• Analytical skills to interpret usage and billing data.
• Experience with FinOps or BI tooling; Python scripting is a plus.
• Ability to communicate cost insights to technical and financial stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Own cloud cost visibility end to end by maintaining and improving tagging, allocation, and showback so spend is accurately attributed to teams, products, and services.
• Drive rate optimisation across the estate, including commitment management, Reserved Instances, and Savings Plans strategy, balancing coverage against flexibility.
• Build and maintain FinOps reporting, dashboards, and tooling that turn cloud billing data into actionable insight for engineering, finance, and leadership.
• Improve forecasting accuracy and support budgeting, working closely with finance partners to make cloud spend predictable.
• Identify and drive workload optimisation and waste reduction, partnering with engineering teams on rightsizing, scheduling, and architecture opportunities.
• Define and track cloud efficiency KPIs, and embed cost-aware engineering into design and delivery so cost is considered before spend is committed.
• Investigate cost anomalies and act as the go-to expert for cloud cost questions across the organisation.

Requirements:

• Several years of experience in a FinOps, Cloud Financial Management, or closely related cloud/technology finance role.
• Solid understanding of public cloud architecture, preferably AWS, and how design decisions drive cost.
• Hands-on experience with cloud cost management, including tagging governance, allocation, and commitment/discount instruments such as Reserved Instances and Savings Plans.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex usage and billing data, spot patterns and anomalies, and recommend clear actions.
• Experience with FinOps or BI tooling; scripting such as Python for reporting and automation is a plus.
• Ability to communicate cost insight effectively to both technical and financial stakeholders and drive accountability across teams.
