Job summary

VANRATH partners with a leading organisation in the transportation and infrastructure sector to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant for a maternity cover role. The successful candidate will manage financial accounting, cash management, and treasury tasks, reporting to senior stakeholders and leading a small team.

The role focuses on financial controls, cash flow forecasting, and continuous improvement within a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified CCAB accountant or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years' industry or commercial experience.
• Experience in financial accounting, cash management, banking, treasury or finance operations.
• Strong understanding of financial controls, reconciliations and cash flow forecasting.
• Proven leadership skills, with experience managing or developing teams.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, with experience using SQL and accounting software.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of partnering with stakeholders across the organisation.
• Proactive approach to process improvements and supporting business performance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee key financial operations, ensuring robust controls and accurate records.
• Lead and support a team across cash management, banking, and accounts receivable.
• Manage relationships with banking partners and financial service providers.
• Prepare and present cash flow forecasts and financial reports for senior management.
• Oversee bank and transactional reconciliations and maximise cash visibility.
• Support tax and statutory compliance, including VAT, CIS, and Intrastat.
