NXTGEN is recruiting a Senior Financial Accountant for an established organisation in Lowestoft. You will partner with the Finance Director to own the integrity of financial reporting and the control environment, focusing on process improvements rather than managing a team.

The role suits candidates with ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications and a track record in statutory reporting, audit, and financial compliance, ready to enhance controls and deliver robust financial information for leadership.

Qualifications

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, or equivalent experience.
• Experience in practice or industry accounting.
• Understanding statutory reporting, audit and financial compliance.
• Strong financial controls mindset.
• Ability to review balance sheets and investigate discrepancies.
• Translates complex accounting requirements into practical actions.
• Enjoys process improvement and challenging existing methods.
• Confident communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing and strengthening financial controls across the business
• Ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are accurate, complete and supported
• Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end reporting
• Acting as a key point of contact during the external audit process
• Maintaining clear finance policies, procedures and control documentation
• Reviewing accounting treatments and providing technical guidance
• Supporting tax, VAT and wider financial compliance activity
• Identifying weaknesses or inconsistencies within existing processes
• Working with stakeholders to implement practical control improvements
• Supporting the accuracy and integrity of monthly financial reporting
• Improving the quality of financial information available to senior leadership
• Contributing to finance systems, reporting and process improvement projects
