Job summary

NXTGEN is recruiting a Financial Accountant for an established manufacturing business in the North of the City. You’ll support monthly and year-end close, ensure UK GAAP statutory reporting, and maintain robust controls within a SOX framework.

Joining a larger international group, you’ll work with local stakeholders and the wider group to deliver accurate reporting, balance sheet integrity, and audit support.

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification or nearing qualification.
• Experience with UK GAAP and statutory reporting.
• Experience in audit or internal controls preferred.
• Industry experience in manufacturing or complex environment is a plus.
• Ability to review balance sheets and resolve discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting.
• Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP.
• Ensure SOX controls compliance and maintain evidence.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Support year-end audit and respond to external queries.
• Maintain accounting records for assets, inventory and balance sheet areas.
• Review journals, accruals and prepayments during month-end close.
• Support corporation tax, VAT and broader regulatory reporting.
• Ensure group accounting policies are applied consistently.
• Identify weaknesses in controls and implement improvements.
• Assist changes to finance systems and reporting processes.
• Collaborate with operational finance to improve information accuracy.
