Job summary

Bedford Borough Council is seeking an experienced System Administrator to support and develop the Council's core financial management system, ensuring security, reliability and compliance.

You will lead upgrades, provide 2nd and 3rd line support, translate business requirements into technical solutions and collaborate with suppliers and HR teams. This role offers a chance to influence the finance platform and future developments within a public sector environment.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting complex finance applications in a business‑critical environment.
• Experience with upgrades, implementations and supplier management.
• Experience supporting HR systems.
• Experience in enterprise finance systems, financial reporting, application support, system administration, change management and service improvement.

Responsibilities

• Administer, support and develop financial systems and reporting solutions.
• Lead system upgrades, patches, testing and change management.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd line support for incidents, problems and service requests.
• Monitor performance, identify improvements and ensure compliance with organisational standards.
• Work with suppliers and stakeholders to deliver enhancements and future developments.
• Support finance projects through technical expertise, planning, resource estimates and implementation.
